Monetary Contributions Many of you have asked about making financial contributions to help me recover existing costs and to offset the ongoing cost of keeping the Web site and message board alive. Until recently, I really had never sat down to figure out what it costs to keep LA-ex.org
going. I was quite surprised to see the year cost at approximately $1,300.00 for 1998 and $1,600.00 for 1999. Once I saw this, I decided to accept your offers for contributions. If you feel like contributing, there are two ways to do so. One way is indirectly through purchases from our business partner(s) and the other is through direct donations. LA-ex.org Partnership With AMAZON.COM I have set up a partnership with AMAZON.COM that allows me to receive an extremely small referral fee whenever someone navigates from one of our links to
their Web site and purchases something during that session. If the link is a general link, then I receive 5% of the sale. If the link is a specific link, such as a link to a specific book title or CD-ROM music title, then I receive from 5% to 15% of the final sale, depending on the level of the discount offered by AMAZON.COM. So the best way to help offset costs is to use the links within LA-ex.org to our business partners. You get your purchase and you help out LA-ex.org too.

At some point, we may want to consider forming a nonprofit corporation similar to those of other alumni organizations. This will allow us certain benefits such as tax breaks, etc. Until such time, all cash donations are NOT tax deductible.
