Memorabilia

One of the fun things about my experience in the Navy was the collection of jackets, patches, decals, bumper stickers, belt buckels and other memorabilia that I managed to pile up. This stuff really helps keep the memories alive.

The intention of this area is to build a comprehensive list of USS LOS ANGELES (SSN-688) memorabilia. Are you aware of something that is not on the list? If so, visit Collector's Corner Forum on LA-ex.org: Shoot The Breeze and tell us about it. Better yet, send us a scan or snap shot (see Contributions).

LA-ex.org: Shoot The Breeze message board also offers the Collector's Corner forum for those who are interested in trading SSN-688 or any submarine, ship, or other Navy memorabilia.

Patches

Patches were used to commemorate special events such as cruises, port visits, operstions, etc.

Lighters

Lighters are a traditional commemorative, but as smoking declines, these items may not be made for much longer.

Decals

Decals were typically used at the ship yard for workers helmets to commemorate work on a ship or submarine.

Bumper Stickers

Bumper stickers became popular in the 1960's as America's love of cars and freedom of speech reached a pinnacle.
