Port of call: Hong Kong - Steve Jackson eating lunch | | | | Steve Jackson, MM2/SS enjoying the local cuisine. Several of us had lunch in a vegetarian restaurant in Kowloon that turned out to be a favorite hang out for an order of monks or priests. When we walked in the door the cacophony of voice and kitchen noises came to a halt with everyone craning their necks around to stare at us. The maitre-de ushered to a quiet, partitioned, corner in the back
of the restaurant. After the novelty wore off, the normal lunch noises continued. It was just like those old westerns when the Sheriff walks into the saloon full of rowdy cowpokes. The waiter did not speak English and the menu was in Cantonese. We basically let the waiter choose for us and we weren't disappointed. | | | |  | |
