The USS LOS ANGELES (SSN-688) anchored out in Hong Kong harbor. We had to take liberty boats (water taxis) from the ship to a dock near the Merchant Seaman's Center. Hong Kong, a very modern city, was not the Hong Kong of Suzy Wong. Gone were the wildest of the wild
clubs. Kowloon, across the harbor from Hong Kong was perhaps the most adventurous place to cruise on liberty.
